DIMORPHODONS THE FACTORY

Somehow, Dimorphodons manages to create a sound that occupies a similar space as Syd Barrett era Pink Floyd, despite being a solo act releasing music in 2020. His playful, psychedelic sound is full of jangling piano and guitar and reverb-heavy, dreamy vocals that manage to feel both elegantly jammed and painstakingly composed. Just listening to ‘The Factory’ makes you feel like you’re laying inside a trippy kaleidoscope, but the surrealist video actually takes you there: mirror images and a claustrophobic setting are doused in purple and green, with a sock puppet thrown in for good measure. The track is a reworked version of one of Dimorphodons’ earliest works, a process he describes as “a collaboration between my present self and my sixteen old self.” Be on the lookout for his Searching For Dimorphodons EP, dropping soon. -Dan Peeke
